Losiny Ostrov National Park, Russia

The Losiny Ostrov National Park does not only have the biggest forest in comparison to other forests located in such close proximity to a city, but is the very first national park that was established in Russia. Losiny Ostrov National Park is situated inMoscow and was a national project by 1983. The land that now serves as aMoscow national park was once the hunting ground of the tsars and grand princes. The area had been reserved in 1799, and the first forest management team was appointed in 1842. The need and request for a national park has been heard from as far back as 1909.
