>> The Russian Embassy & SVFS would be closed from Thursday 1st January 2009 to Saturday 10th January 2009 (10 days holiday) due to New Year & Christmas celebration. The Russian Embassy & SVFS starts work since 11th January 2009 (Sunday 11/01/09 is a working day).

>> 1st January - New Year celebration. 7th January - Christmas celebration.

>>Next is February 23, Day, known until recently as Soviet Army Day, popularly viewed as holiday for all men, due to this holiday the Russian Embassy and SVFS will be closed on February 25, 2008 and closely followed by its Spring Holiday, Women’s Day, March 8, when women receive flowers, presents and are toasted by men.

>>1st May, until recently officially termed International Workers’ Solidarity Day, is now known as Spring and Labour Day. On some years, it occurs on or close to with Russian Orthodox Easter, so some people celebrate in church while some attend customary demonstrations.

>>Russia celebrates Victory Day on May 9 to commemorate the millions fallen in World War II. Flowers and wreaths are laid on wartime graves on this day, and veterans come out into the streets wearing their military orders and medals. Russian Embassy & SVFS are closed from 1st May 2008 to 3rd May 2008 and from 9th May 2008 to 11th May 2008due to National Holidays

>>June 12 is Russia’s Independence Day, which commemorates the adoption in 1991 of the Declaration of Sovereignty of the Russian Federation.

>>Thursday 2nd October 2008 is a working day in the Russian Embassy & SVFS Please submit all documents to our representatives at Visa Section (Consular Section, Russian Embassy, Nyaya Marg, Chanakyapuri).

>>November 4 - Day of the National Unity is the newest Russian holiday. Russian Embassy & SVFS are closed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 2nd, 3rd and 4th November 2008 . Saturday 1 November 2008 is a working day in the Russian Embassy & SVFS.
