Khabarovsk is the capital of the Khabarovsk Krai region and is located at the point where the Amur and Ussuri rivers meet. It has a strong military prescence having been the Far Eastern Military Command headquarters for quite some time but it has never been closed to foreigners as other militarized cities have been. As a result, it has quite a cosmopolitan feel to it as numerous foreigners mostly Korean, Japanese and Chinese either tour the city or settle here.
